In September 2003, Shepherd's Governing Board finalized the Core Values for our life together as a congregation, which will help us lead and make choices along our path. They could be summarized in one word, followed by a value statement, and a Bible reference that supports this statement. They set forth a foundation and definition which is central to our faith and mission as a congregation.

SHEPHERD'S CORE VALUES

COMMUNITY
Unchurched people matter to God and so they matter to us.
Jesus sent us to reconcile a lost world to God (Luke 15:1-32)

LOVE
Loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.
Love for one another is the norm (John 13:34)

SERVICE
The call to servanthood and ministry is to every believer.
We strive to respond faithfully to follow Him above all else (Luke 14:15-24)

RELATIONSHIP
Life change happens best in small groups.
We seek to bring people into an ever-growing relationship with Jesus (Acts 2:42-47)

OPENNESS
We are committed to cultural relevance.
We offer variety in worship and remain open to new innovations sent to the church by the Holy Spirit (Psalms 146-150, Acts 2:1-42)

FAITH
We are dedicated to doctrinal purity.
The Gospel message remains unchanged (Hebrews 13:8)

We are a community of faith striving to be open to loving relationships and learning to serve from examples in the Scriptures.
